FIRST LOOK: The Koenigsegg Gemera is a limited production four-seat plug-in hybrid monster, that has been brought to life by Swedish automotive legend Christian Von Koenigsegg.
Koenigsegg always having been at the forefront of technology and innovation means they constantly must push the boundaries of what’s possible in the automotive world and this ‘first of its kind’ four-seater hypercar, has certainly done just that.
Originally the car was started as a game. Christian wanted to know if there was a way to fit his impeccable V8 found in the Jesko, into a four-seat saloon. After discussing with his mechanics, it turned out that with some mechanical genius, it could! Over years or fettling with the engine, the engineers and Christian started to understand more about different, more lightweight materials that could replace current ones and reduce the engine size. Over time it came apparent that not only could they fit in 4 seats, but a variety of luggage compartments. All this combined, gave them quite an exciting basis and project Gemera was born.

During the Gemera build, Christian was very keen on making the ‘megacar’ as usable as possible and to facilitate drivability, a whole new transmission was created for agility and comfort. The LSTT (Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission) with four-wheel torque vectoring which can be powered by either the 800hp Dark Matter E-motor of the twin-turbo TFG, or a combination of the two resulting in a maximum output of 1400hp and 1850Nm. The HV8 configuration, however, can also take the car to 2300hp so choose your configuration wisely!

The Gemera boast a nine-speed automatic gearbox making it silky smooth on long GT touring drives or sitting in traffic through central London.

Only a mere 300 units will be produced and its safe to say most are probably already purchased however, considering the purpose of the mega-car is usability, we may see some on the road.
